A webinar on the book titled ‘Ikeda Sensei : The Triumph of Mentor-Disciple Spirit’ authored by Dr. N. Radhakrishnan was organized by BSG and Gandhi Media Centre, on Thursday, 28th October 2021.
Eminent speakers who spoke at the webinar included Dr. Anoop Swarup, Chairman, Centre for Global Non-Killing and Chairman Global Knowledge Alliance, Mr. Michael Kok, Vice General Director SGI Malaysia, Chairman & CEO SISM and Dr. Christopher CM Boey, Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University Of Malaya,
On behalf of BSG, Mr Vishesh Gupta, Chairperson, Dr Akash Ouchi, Honorary Deputy Chairperson, Mr. R. Prabhakaran, MD Zone Chief (South India Area) and Mr. Venkat Sai, MD Chapter Chief (South India Area) also addressed the gathering.
The speakers shared their views from different chapters of the book and spoke about a variety of topics focussing on ‘Mentor-Disciple Spirit’ as a theme.
Dr. Anoop Swaroop opened the discussion and talked about the greatness of ‘Mentor-Disciple Spirit’ from different perspectives which has been brought out in the book. Mr Michael Kok shared his thoughts on President lkeda’s quest for Peace and on significance of his dialogues with leading thinkers around the world. Dr Christopher Boey, spoke of Religion and Politics from the ‘Gandhian Perspective’ and shared his insights on the importance of both. Mr. Vishesh Gupta highlighted 4 major achievements of President Ikeda in the areas of Dialogue Diplomacy, University Lectures, his achievements as a writer and his contributions as a supporter of the UN. Dr Akash Ouchi talked about the importance of having a mentor and how great personalities around the world were always influenced by a ‘Mentor’ who helped in the development of their disciples.
In his concluding speech, Dr N Radhakrishnan expressed his deep gratitude to all the speakers for participating in the webinar and for sharing their learnings from the book with everyone.
This webinar, attended by over 500 members and friends of BSG, was the 9th webinar in the series of webinars being organised to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of President Ikeda’s first visit to India in the year 1961.
