As a part of Bharat Soka Gakkai’s community outreach program, volunteers from BSG conducted Earth Day Celebrations on 24th April 2024 with the students from Gyandeep Growth Foundation, which is a not-for-profit organisation that strives to inculcate an importance of education in the minds of economically weaker sections of society.
The session was attended by over 40 students.
Focusing on the Earth Day theme for 2024 – ‘Planet Vs Plastic’, the students were empowered conceptually and practically to adopt ‘Sustainable Human Behaviour’.
Though Sustainable Human Behaviour was a new concept for them, yet they felt delighted learning about the impact one single individual can make by adopting a Sustainable Lifestyle.
With the help of crossword puzzles, jumble words and participatory discussion, the students learnt facts, figures, and new vocabulary about planet Earth.
They also participated in group activities and recycled waste material collected from home.
The students made fresh determinations to take small yet Sustainable Steps every day to save planet Earth.
One of the BSG volunteers also inspired the students by composing a song on Planet Earth.
