About the Collection Drive
List of Plastic Items Around UsThe ‘BSG Plastic Collection Drive’ is a part of the ongoing ‘BSG for SDG’ ‘Say NO to Plastic’ initiative. It aims to make a positive impact on our environment by addressing the issue of plastic pollution through encouraging people to adopt ‘Sustainable Human Behaviour’ as a lifestyle.
In 2024, the plastic collection drive is being carried out exclusively in Mumbai.
This campaign includes six steps, also known as the SE-WA-STO-DE-CO-RE steps:
STEP 1
SEgregating the plastic waste responsibly at home (at least 1kg by each participant).
STEP 2
WAshingthe plastic waste at home (only in case any soiled plastic needs cleaning).
STEP 3
STOringthe plastic waste at one’s individual home.
STEP 4
DEpositing plastic at the collection address by BSG members.
STEP 5
COllection of the plastic waste by recycling vans.
STEP 6
REcyclingof plastic waste at recycling centres.
By engaging in the SE-WA-STO-DE-CO-RE steps, we will be able to ensure that we are able to protect our precious blue planet Earth from harmful effects of plastic pollution for our own better health as well as for the sake of our future generations.
By addressing the issue of #plasticpollution, we will be able to contribute to SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 14 – Life Below Water, and SDG 15 – Life on Land.
Campaign Timelines
- The segregation and storage of plastic waste at one’s individual homes / offices etc will be on-going between August 9th to October 14th, 2024.
- The collection of the plastic waste by the recycling vans will be done between 15th to 20th October 2024 from the designated collection venues.
BSG is determined to create a positive impact on our environment. Rather than being bystanders and waiting for someone else to take the lead, we will take proactive action to hand-build a sustainable world.
