BSG volunteers conducted a very creative and participatory session on 8th June 2024 with women workers of Pedal On – an NGO dedicated to empowering women from the underprivileged section of society.
The session started with building general awareness about World Environment Day through a documentary titled ‘Save Me’ – story of a child’s friendship with a tree and his courage to inspire other children to protect that tree from being cut down. This documentary initiated a wonderful discussion among the members present as to how we can be the one to take action towards protecting Mother Earth and enriching our environment.
An activity called ‘Best Out of Waste’ was conducted to create a fashionable outfit or accessory uniquely created out of used/recyclable paper bags, bottles, wrapping papers etc. This helped the enthusiastic participants to think out of the box and ideate.
The session proved to be an engaging and enriching experience for all involved as each life learnt that through creative endeavours, one can also reflect the crucial aspects of Sustainability. Creative thoughts once translated into action have the power to bring about transforming impact and solutions for several environmental issues.
One of the participants shared, based on her learning in this session, as to how women seldom feel confident about offering solutions to challenges of the world. But with this workshop, this inspiring thought was ignited in the women and they will continue striving to feel empowered and participate in environmental friendly initiatives on a day-to-day basis.
